Across the Wilderness

So I landed in Adelaide a week ago after over starting off the adventure hitching from Perth in Febuary. Words cannot yet describe the journey but, needless to say I will one day intellectualize it all and express it as best I can.
Just being out in the wilderness with nothing for hundreds of miles, no phone reception, no internet and just my belongings in two cases. Incredible!
The distance was almost two thousand miles (or 3200km)

All I can say now is how grateful I am to be on this journey, to have met so many gorgeous humans, to have seen and experienced so much beauty, diversity, culture and love.

I feel as if I have changed a lot. Still obviously, I am me, at the core but a lot of things surrounding the core have changed, evolved. To the point where I look back in almost disbelief at who I used to be. I know now that it was all part of the bigger picture, that each step was necessary to get me where I am now and that I will look back at where I am now years from now and be thinking the same perhaps...

Anyhow, I am heading to the Gold Coast very shortly to do my 3 months regional work in order to get my 2nd year visa (which I shall use in a few years)

I send my heartfelt love to all back home. To all who've come into my life - for whatever length of time - and made the ride so enriching and brought me to where I am now.  I can't wait to share the adventure and ride it with you all when I return. Know this; that even though there are continents and oceans separating us physically, we are still connected in thought, through love and, if we close our eyes, be still and listen, we can hear the song that is still being woven and that resonates even in the deepest corners of the universe. Sustaining the connection between us.

                                               Life is sweet.
                                                BIG LOVE

On The Road...

Oh how long its been and how much has happened!

I left Perth on Saturday and got the train to Armadale with the intention of hitting the Albany highway to hitch somewhere, anywhere! After a long train journey and a lovely flurry of texts with my sister and a delve into the book she gave me, I arrived and lugged my 3 bags out of the station. One guy saw me looking at my phone is exasperation as it's GPS was playing up and asked me where I wanted to go. He pointed me the right way and I set off in the heat. Already sweating! After ten minutes of walking I arrived at the hitching spot and parked my gear. Literally after 2 minutes someone pulled over and told me he was driving to this restaurant he owned near Wagin in a small town called Dumbleyung. Naturally I enquired about a job and – after 2 months of strenuous job hunting – he mentioned a part time position in his restaurant/hotel as washer up. Food and accom included for about 2 hours work a day! Things really fell into place and after starting this book I was becoming more and more spiritually aware and open. The universe was thanking me. Telling me I was on the right path.

So after 3 hours of driving (and almost overheating the engine) we arrived at this cute little place in the middle of nowhere. Perfect, after a city overdose!

There were a few complications as some weren't too keen on such spontaneity but he was the boss, the manager afterall so he had the final word. I am now typing in my room. A beautiful, cosy room near the balcony. I am so thrilled and at peace with everything. I am ready now.

Hello 2012

So hello Smilers!

Happy 2012

I have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and shamefully have not recorded all of the merriments but pictures will be soon to come. I promise.

So, New Year, New Me.

I feel like a new improved Monsieur Smile with my Golden (slightly orange) hair...

There will be some new changes occuring this year and no matter where I am in the world, it is my hope to slide some updates in now and then.
I know its been sporadic to say the least but what can I say?

Life just got so much more interesting... and what's life when I'm just staring at this screen?
So much time has been wasted over the last few years and I've made mistakes. Big ones. But I know that it's just the beginning and somehow I've realised that, even when it feels like the end and you've reached a brick wall in your life; there is SO much waiting one the other side. Climb over and start the new adventure.

Keep smiling. X

I would like to dedicate this post to Mr WB, letter writing partner-in-crime ;)

Excerpt from memoir...

As I walked down that old familiar road to the ancient bus stop, I stopped for a moment and looked into the beautiful rolling hills that lead to Bristol Airport and Chew Magna where we used to go to collect newly fresh milk from that farmer who lived under this big tube like structure and always made and sold his own dairy products. The Yogurt. That creamy milk that always left a little white moustache on the top lip.

I remembered that time my school had gone to his farm for a picnic and, instead of eating outside in the rain with the others, I had crawled into an empty pig sti, all alone to escape. To escape the rain and the loud whir of excited voices. To escape the hierarchy in the classes and to feel that little rush of independence. I remember not feeling like a loner but feeling like a Prince. And I wasn't a loner, I was just different and this wasn't always a bad thing at all. I had many friends and was coming acquainted with how to 'fit in.' Which was useless really, but necessary at the time for my realisation to occur all these years later.

Someone – you'll be glad to hear – did poke their little head into my pig sti. Someone I was seriously crushing on.

In my childhood it was clear that I had strong fancies and infatuations, usually on pretty girls my age but later on, with older, glamorous women. Maybe I just wanted to be as fabulous as them with all their crazy, dramatic, beautiful lives. These larger-than-life women acted as a kind of inspiration to me and provided hope that things get better and more fabulous. I was just a young naïve little kid desperately wanting my adventures to start. And in a sense. They did.

School was a defining time in my life, something that brought out my creative zest for life and not only brought it out, but nurtured it. Welcome to Steiner Waldorf Education.

I joined as a baby to 'Mother and Baby' sessions. Moving up to Kindergarten as a toddler. The focus being on play and creativity as opposed to plunging straight into education at the age of 5! In fact, I joined at 3 and a half and loved it! Painting with watercolours, baking cute little braided loaves of bread, sharing out little bowls of Semolina with a delicious cinnamon and sugar dusting on top. It was a child's heaven!

PICTURE UPDATE : 1st Visit to Sweden

Thought I'd include some pictures from my summer... sorry it took so long!

Special Thanks to Mio, Erika for the picturess! (My camera lense broke which has to be one of the worst things to happen to me!)

Hope you enjoy!

It's been an AGE!

Hey people!
I KNOW I have been such a bad blogger! But soo much has happened and is still happening!

I don't know where to begin...

Actually. I do.

Last friday I was in Stockholm with some friends and we went to see Patrick Wolf LIVE!
Now. I wasn't his biggest fan but ever since I was introduced to him I have felt this kinda connection to - well - his energy. Seeing him live was like seeing a long lost friend from a past life. We were strangers. Yet there was familiarity. There was intense eye contact and a moment where he reached down for my hand and sung his euphoric song 'Together' directly into my eyes. Now, I'm not going to be cringey about this and suddenly be like; "oh it was the most magical moment and I'm his biggest fan.."

NO.

In fact. Had I been in his position (famous) I would find the completely obsessed (to the point of near insanity) lip syncing, screaming fans a turn off, or, well - annoying?
Now I was guilty of singing along sometimes but I didn't react to him as if he was some kind of God. I acted as if he was human. Smiling and appreciating. Getting that from a fan from a personal point of view would be more special.

Anyway...

I had a fabulous time and just to quickly update you all now.
I will be working at a Mansion for a Hunt Ball on saturday.

Bring on the Champagne ;)

I feel as if I'm in a good place in life. I know I can't explain why to you all but I just thought I'd put it out there that I feel strong, fearless and ready for anything..

Stay smiling :)

BACKSATGE POMP & CIRCUMSTANCE

So, basically, yesterday I walked the catwalk for King Carl XVI Gustaf  and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
Long story short; I was invited to a casting and was offered this show.
So... as a sneak preview, I have included a picture from one of the backstage toilets...

The show went really well and we had to walk right up to the Royal Family and NOT SMILE!
Afterwards, I went into town, met some of the the other models and we watched the Royalty walk by on a tour of the sculptures in Borås.

Will include pictures of my Josefin Strid outfit when they are released!

Stay Smiling,
